A BALLOT for free tickets to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s summer concerts opens today.

In total, 3,500 tickets are being given away for the full symphonic concerts at Pier Approach on August 9.

There will be performances at 5pm and 7.45pm.

Both concerts will be performed by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Maxime Tortelier, Leverhulme Young Conductor in Association with the BSO.

The movie-themed concert programme will include favourites such as Superman, Jaws, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park and many more by composer John Williams.

The ballot opens today and closes on Friday.

Other free BSO events, which do not require a ticket, are the Mini BSO at 3pm on August 7, BSO Strings at 3.30pm the following day and an Al fresco Tea Dance on August 10, 3pm.
