TWO young boys are wanted in connection with an arson attack that took place in Swanage last week.

Emergency services were called to a garage in Victoria Avenue, at 8pm on Wednesday June 11, after a stockpile of wood was deliberately set on fire.

The boys, aged around 10-13, were disturbed by the occupants of the property after they returned home.

Police Constable Kyle Hickman, of Purbeck police, said: “This was a highly dangerous incident that has caused damage to the building.

“It also endangered the occupants who tried to extinguish the fire and suffered the effects of smoke inhalation.”

Three days earlier, between 3-3.15pm on Sunday, June 8, furniture was piled up and set alight in a derelict classroom at Swanage's former grammar school site in Northbrook Road.

PC Hickman said: “I urge witnesses, anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the areas at the relevant times and anyone with information about those responsible to come forward as soon as possible.

“All calls are treated in the strictest confidence.”

Witnesses call 101, quoting incident number 11:450.
