Armed police called after woman seen with gun

A WOMAN who was apparently spotted with a gun in Poole on Sunday evening remains in custody this morning.

Police had informed the Daily Echo that the woman, in her 40s, had been released, but they now say that she remains in custody.

A spokesman did confirm that the incident involved an air weapon.

Armed police were called to the Yarmouth Road area yesterday after the woman was spotted appearing to hold a handgun.

The emergency services received reports from several members of the public at around 5.05pm of a woman seen in Yarmouth Road, which leads off Alder Road.

A police spokesman said that the woman was not found with the gun when she was arrested, but a weapon was located nearby.

Officers attended and arrested a woman a short time later, on nearby Surrey Road.

when you are looking down the barrel of a gun, you really dont care if its an air pistol or a 'real' gun ... all you see is a gun. the police will make a 'song and dance about it' because its something to make a song and dance about!

whilst you are entitled to your opinion, in this case, it is wrong! and i hope you are never looking down the wrong end of a 'gun'!

Even if it WAS an air pistol it can still come under a firearms offence which is a 5 year sentence. What if armed police were called and someone had been shot would your attitude still be the same?

I agree, the gatling gun would be a major concern if used on branksome rec, especially if a woman was behind the trigger. Them bullets would have ended up knocking out windows in Sandbanks, wimborne, Boscombe and possibly Hamworthy.

Maybe he should see what a modern air pistol can do especially if someone has 'clocked' it up a bit, then add in the fact that some are made to look like a REAL firearm so should the police just go 'Oh i bet its only an airpistol lets not bother going'. breamoreboy I have seen the damage caused just by a BB gun (the pellets ended up in the flesh under the skin) and modern airpistols can do a lot more damage with the right pellets so have to agree with you.

Sure you might kill a rat with one if you're lucky, thats about it. If you want to see what a proper pistol does then type in Bud Dwyer into YouTube and have a look. Please people give yourselves a reality check ok, most of you are sounding like cissy's scared of everything. Our old war heroes would be ashamed at the wimps you've become frightened to death of a pellet gun.[/p]
Well as they're not a problem I'll try test firing a few pellets into your eyes and see what you think about it.[/p]
