A BOURNEMOUTH record label has made a boombastic debut this week with Jamaican-American singer Shaggy.

The catchy single Football Minha Vida is a collaboration between Austrian musician Leo Aberer and Shaggy.

Released just in time for the World Cup, Ryan Cole of Pyramid Affiliate Records is tipping the track to go all the way.

“Although it’s about football, it’s a really summery song. It’s got a dance vibe and from what we hear everyone is excited about the track. Fingers crossed it gets a chart position,” says Ryan.

Shaggy is best known for his number one singles such as Oh Carolina, Boombastic, It Wasn’t me and Angel.

A chance meeting and a shared love of the beautiful game led to Shaggy making a guest appearance on the first single from the Bournemouth record label.

“Leo bumped into Shaggy at an event, which led to a jam session. They’re both huge football fans and they then teamed up and recorded the track in New York where Shaggy lives. Some of the video was shot in Brazil and New York,” added Ryan.

Based in Westbourne, Pyramid Affiliate Records is the brainchild of Ryan and his business partner Miguel Dorset (who is the son of Mungo Jerry front man Ray Dorset). In 1993, Shaggy had a worldwide hit with a cover of Mungo Jerry’s In The Summertime.

“We’re so lucky that my business partner’s dad knows the industry. We’ve had lots of support from Ray and it’s a foot in the door for radio stations.”
