Bournemouth Echo: Police issue drugs house closure order on Boscombe flat Police issue drugs house closure order on Boscombe flat

POLICE have issued a drugs house closure order at a Boscombe flat amid claims of drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour.

Officers applied for the order for the flat in The Crescent and it was issued by Bournemouth magistrates on Friday June 6.

The order was issued under the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 after complaints from local residents and police have pledged to continue to act on the concerns of the public.

A drugs warrant was executed at the property four months ago and, since then, officers have been gathering evidence.

PC Dan Frost, of Boscombe Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We have listened to residents’ concerns and taken positive action on their behalf. I now hope all the residents can live peacefully in their homes.

“I would like to thank the residents for their patience, on-going support and their assistance. This success would not have happened without their help. By working together as a team, Dorset Police and the community can make Boscombe a better and safer place for everyone.”

The closure order has been imposed for three months and details have been posted on the front of the flat. Anyone found breaching the closure order will be arrested.

PC Frost continued: “We will always seek to take action and use police powers where there is evidence of drug activity and anti-social behaviour.

“I would also encourage local residents to report any concerns to Dorset Police in confidence or Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Anyone with information about crime or suspicious activity should call Dorset Police on 101 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

I wonder whether the dealers and customers of the flat will now

A) Turn their back on the world of drugs

B) Will use a different flat and continue.

I think there has been a mistake made here. It was about a month ago that the regenerated and spiffng new crescent garden was opened in a ceremony
by the Mayor.
This ceremonial occasion marked a new era for the crescent. The old days of drugs, drinkers and scumbaggery was made a thing of the past with some splendid herbacisous borders and some fine bedding plants.

It seems not all of the residents received a letter from the council informing them of the areas upgraded status.

Just the one flat? Maybe the police need to do some more investigations, at least 50% of the flats in sunny Boscombe could be classed as drug dens. If they want to make Boscombe this wonderful place the council say it is they need to close alot more of these places down.

Even Gazza has recently moved from flat 25, Marina Towers, The Marina, Boscombe, B15 1BJ to Sandbanks saying 'there were too many dodgy characters round there'

Not true though. He was the only dodgy character in a quiet block full of retired folk seeking a peaceful few years by the sea.

The F.A paid his rent then and they are paying his rent now.

Honestly, some people moan about anything !

It's when they close it because there isn't just drug dealing but loads of nasty characters attracted to the house and lots of crime. You can arrest them but people gravitate back and carry on behaving badly so they shut down the whole property for a set period to give them time to terminate any rental contracts and take people through court.

Otherwise they'd get caught, arrested, bailed, go back and carry on.
