ONE lane was closed on the A338 southbound between Ashley Heath and Blackwater Junction.

Dorset Police said it was called to the scene at 11.02am following reports of an accident involving one car which is believed to have come off the road.

An ambulance was called and two fire crews attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Dorset Fire said the car's male driver had vacated the vehicle prior to its arrival and he was given first aid at the scene.

She added: "The crews were there for around 20 minutes and left the car in situ, which was on its roof."

The incident caused earlier queues on the Spur Road.

Why so many vehicle accidents on this stretch? Why? Have the police (or anyone else for that matter) found any patterns in the frequent incidents? Is there a procedure in place to detect patterns?

The pattern is simple. Lots of inept drivers on a busy road means a higher chance of one of them running out of talent almost every day!

Sounds about right. Second busiest road in Dorset after the A31 if my memory serves me correctly.
