MEMBERS of a national charity donned wigs and hats to take a trip through the rabbit hole last week.

Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society in the South West dressed in Alice In Wonderland costumes for a tea party at the Haskins Garden Centre restaurant in Longham.

Services manager Jo Malyon, community fundraising manager Adrian Williams and volunteer Anne Scaife were joined by around 40 members of the public for the event, which aimed to raise further awareness of the support offered by the charity.

Mr Williams said: “The tea party was a great success.

“Not only did it raise valuable income to further the work of the society, but we were able to offer tangible support to individuals and families living with dementia.”

Haskins’ general manager Simon Morris said he was pleased to offer the centre’s private Cedar room to the charity.

His staff voted the organisation to benefit as their ‘charity of the year’ for 2014.
