A TEAM of 10 people from a car sales company will be taking on this year’s Daily Echo-backed Poole Festival of Running.

Members of staff from Horizon Magna Group are hoping to complete the 10k challenge, the longest-distance race in the event, which is being held in Poole Park on Sunday, June 1.

Horizon Magna Group is the main sponsor of the event, which includes the Poole 10k Race, The Dorset Cancer Centre 5k supported by Daily Echo, Minithons for ages eight to 14, and the Children’s Under-Eights Fun Run.

Fundraising from all races will go to the Dorset Cancer Centre, based at Poole Hospital, which is the major specialist cancer treatment centre for adults in Dorset.

It provides a range of treatments including radiotherapy and chemotherapy for both common and rare cancers.

Tony Roberts, Group Director of Horizon Magna Group, said: “We are really pleased to have been able to assist.

As a privately-owned local Poole business established here over 40 years ago, we are very aware of the highest levels of care and support given to patients at Poole Hospital.

“We wish all the participants and spectators a very enjoyable day on June 1.”

In addition to the main race events, thousands of people are expected to descend on Poole Park to enjoy a host of entertainment on offer for the whole family to enjoy, including stalls, refreshments and children’s activities.
