SWANAGE Lifeboat has been launched to assist two people onboard a 42ft yacht after the vessel’s propeller got caught on ropes.

The RNLI lifeboat, with six crewmen onboard, was launched at around 10am this morning.

Speaking to the Daily Echo at 10.30am Dave Carben, launching authority at RNLI Swanage Lifeboat Station, said: “They have been snagged by a pot marker which is in a position about ten miles South East of Peveril Point.

“They are unable to move and with the tide of course it can be a dangerous situation. It’s also in the shipping lanes.

“The crew are currently proceeding there.

“They should be able to use cutting equipment to free the propeller.”
