IT takes a lot to be noticed in the business world these days, but a memorable name can go a long way.

We’ve compiled a list of some of the most clever and amusing business names around the area.

Probably unsurpringsly, food and hairdressing seem to lend themselves to puns more than others, but the owners of other businesses are not to be outdone, either.

Here are some of our favourites:

Some of these names are too corny though and can make a business appear to be downmarket, which is fine if that's what they are aiming for I suppose.

I don't fancy having my hair shaved at Short and Curly, you don't know where the clippers have been :-)

Some of the marketing slogans can be quite inventive too..... not necessarily local, but I liked the one from a firm of Asian plumbers who advertised : -
' You've tried the Cowboys.. now try the Indians'.......

And I'm still waiting for Cotswold - the outdoor store - to announce their end of year sale with: -
'Now is the discount of our winter tents'
Probably already been done, that one.......
