MOST brides would have shown their new husband the red card if he wanted to abandon their nuptials for a game of footie.

But Tanya Saunders actually arranged for her football-mad partner Danny to have an impromptu kick-about after tying the knot.

The pair, who were married at the Guildhall in Poole, made the short trip to Talbot Combined School in Wallisdown for a quick game, with the help of Tanya’s stepfather, who is the school’s caretaker.

Manchester United fan Danny, a roofer from Winton, said: “It was something different. We’ve seen some photos with everyone stood around at weddings and ours was a chilled-out wedding, so these are nice, natural photos.”

Danny, 27, won a place at Bournemouth’s School of Excellence as a goalkeeper when he was 13, but gave it up in favour of motor sport.

He said he had no idea about the kickabout plans until NHS employee Tanya, 24, told him shortly before the wedding.

Danny, whose daughter Chelsea, eight, joined in the fun, said: “She said ‘I’ve got a surprise’.

“She said she knew I loved football. It was just a couple of natural pictures.”
