SEMBCORP Bournemouth Water is backing a campaign to recruit women plumbers.
A poll by the plumbing assurance scheme WaterSafe found that nearly a third of customers would prefer a female plumber to work in their home.
The poll also found 38 per cent of women would learn a trade if they had their time over again.
A quarter of women said they had been encouraged into a ‘typical’ female role such as teaching, healthcare or office work.
Sembcorp is backing WaterSafe’s Get Girls Plumbing campaign.

“The poll results are shocking but speak for themselves.
“What’s really important is the quality of the plumbing work and that customers get what they want and feel comfortable with; not the gender of the plumber.”
