DECADES of history can be accessed through the simple click of a mouse thanks to a new project.
Wimborne Community Theatre’s archival website features images and stories relating to nearly 20 productions from the group’s past, thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Grant.
Hundreds of youngsters and adults who have performed with the group in unusual East Dorset locations over the years – including Kingston Lacy, Knowlton Rings and Wimborne’s Pump House – will appear on the site.
The website was launched at the Priest’s House Museum on Friday, March 14, and MP Annette Brooke attended with Wimborne Mayor, Councillor Andy Hampton.
Guests were given a visual tour of the project, and then watched two short films made by local schoolchildren reinterpreting scenes from past productions.
The MP said: “My congratulations go to Wimborne Community Theatre for 25 years of inspiring work with young people and adults and now the launch of their website.
“This facilitates looking back at past projects and forward to new exciting interpretations of local and national events.”
