Two men were arrested after a break- in at post office and convenience store in Highcliffe.
It happened at around 1.30pm on Monday at the Saulflands Store, Saulfland Place, in Highcliffe.
Entry was forced through a window and a quantity of cigarettes taken.
A member of staff - who had been alerted via the shop alarm, sustained minor head injuries confronting the burglars and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
A 26-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and grievous bodily harm and a 35-year-old man from Beaulieu in Hampshire has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Both men are helping officers with their enquiries.Anyone who has further information should contact Dorset Police on 101 - the department dealing with the incident is Bournemouth CID Priority Crime Team.
