SPORTING greats Austin Healey and Shaun Udal visited the Goldsands Stadium for a unique dinner event.

The England rugby star and cricketer joined Cherries legend Steve Fletcher on an all-star panel at the annual AFC Bournemouth Sportsman’s Dinner, which was based around the popular BBC quiz show A Question Of Sport.

Some 230 guests flocked into the Cherries’ Balfour Suite to enjoy a three-course meal, before former Leicester Tigers player Healey got the bidding going in the auction, which featured prizes such as a signed England rugby shirt and tickets to a Championship cricket match.

The trio then took part in old favourites such as What Happened Next and the Mystery Guest.

Cherries commercial director Rob Mitchell said: “This year’s event was particularly exciting given its unique format, and it was great to not only hear from Austin but also to see the guests’ competitive sides in the games.

“I would like to say a personal thank-you to our magnificent guests Austin Healey, Shaun Udal and Steve Fletcher, who were all in great form – and particularly to Austin, who did a fantastic job in getting guests involved in the auction.

“The crowd also helped ensure the night was a great success, so we look forward to hosting more events in the future.”
