PORTLAND helicopter, Swanage lifeboats and coastguard rescue officers were involved in rescuing a climber who had fallen at Anvil Point this afternoon.

Coastguards received a 999 call just before 3pm today to the male climber who had been injured in the fall near Swanage.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and are consistent with falling, Coastguards said.

Both Swanage lifeboats assisted and provided safety cover to make sure all the rest of the climbing party were safe.

Coastguard teams from Swanage and St Alban's also attended.

The man was taken by Portland coastguard helicopter to Dorset County Hospital's A&E department in Dorchester.

The landing site was manned by Wyke coastguard team.
