THE sky’s the limit for 79-year-old grandfather Reg Finan, who will be plunging 10,000 ft in a charity skydive this summer.

Reg who lives at Ferndown, will be taking part in a parachute jump at Salisbury airfield in July to support the Bournemouth Hospital Charity.

“I accompanied a friend of mine to the hospital for an appointment last year and I was so impressed with the good work they do here,” he explained.

“Everyone needs a hospital at some time in their life so I thought it was a very good cause to support.”

Reg originally set out to raise £1,000, but he has already reached his target, so now he is hoping to raise £1,500.

His friend Jeanne Bush, 86, has offered to stand in for Reg if he is unable to take part for any reason.

Reg adds: “I think everyone is a little bit envious and would like to do it too.

“I just hope it will inspire more people to sign up.

“I am really looking forward to it. I have been gliding before now and paragliding, but I have never jumped out of an aircraft before.”

Barry Wilson, fundraising officer for the Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said Reg was an inspiration.

“He is such a lovely chap. Reg has been raising money almost every day since the turn of the year. He’s really excited about taking part.”

There’s still time to sign up for the Bournemouth Hospital Charity skydive. For more information, visit or call 01202 704060 or email
