WIMBORNE residents went flipping mad for the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race around the Minster.
Youngsters from the town’s schools participated in the competition, which saw runners hurtling around the church building and tossing a pancake in each of the four corners.
But there were also races for adults, toddlers and those in wheelchairs.
And in the final category, 100-year-old Hilda Ward of Streets Meadow Care Home in Wimborne took the crown.
The great-great-grandmother, who was born on October 2 1913, took home her prize of a bag of wild bird food donated by the Wimborne Pet Centre.
The event began at 11am when the Minster’s pancake bell rolled, but competitors had lined up from 10.30am armed with a frying pan and cooked pancake.
It is the seventeenth pancake race around the church since the occasion was revived in 1998 after a 16-year absence.
Town mayor Cllr Andy Hampton started the races.
