Westbourne Tandoori gets top food hygiene rating after follow-up inspection

Bournemouth Echo: The Westbourne Tandoori The Westbourne Tandoori

A POPULAR Indian restaurant has received the highest possible food hygiene rating after a follow-up inspection.

The Westbourne Tandoori in Seamoor Road was named and shamed by Bournemouth Council last month after failing an environmental health inspection.

Owner Shaymol Chowdhury, who established the restaurant 23 years ago, said: “We have now completed the kitchen and the bathroom refurbishments and we would like to reassure all our customers that our food is very safe.”

Rob White, head of regulatory services at Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “After a follow-up inspection, the Westbourne Tandoori has now been regraded to five stars on the food hygiene rating scheme.

“It would appear that the business has worked very hard to meet all of our food safety requirements and have made substantial improvements.”

Mr White added: “It is worth remembering that these inspections capture a specific point in time.

“We work with businesses to support them in improving their ratings.

“Specifically, when a business scores poorly and we require improvements, the initial low score also affects the frequency of visit.

“So having worked with the business to secure immediate improvements, as is usual in such cases, we will now revisit in three months time to ensure that the established standards have been maintained.”

Not really no, as long as regular checks are made from now on then all is well. I never visit such places anyway.

I get my curries from Asda and very nice they are too. The super hot vindaloo took some getting through but I survived the heat. Marvellous.

Likewise, we are regular visitors, and in my opinion one of the best Curry Restaurants in Bournemouth. I was saddened when it got the bad review, but it did not deter are twice monthly visit. So glad all has been recitified now, and the Westbourne Tandori can carry on as before. Regular checks will be in force for a while, so there will be no falling back. No it is not too late.

its not a tripadvisor review, it failed the council health check .make up your own mind if you wish to eat there in the future.

It really is time the original proposal to make food establishments display their rating outside their premises no matter how low then customers can decide on if they want to eat there
