Justine set to take on fast and furious Mad March triathlon to help family friend

A BUSY Bournemouth mum is taking on her toughest challenge yet, in order to help a disabled family friend.
Justine Bennett, from Southbourne, is attempting Mad March, a short and fast triathlon, organized by resultstriathlon.co.uk next month, to raise money for a wheelchair adapted vehicle for Jon and Jo Dilling and their son Harrison, pictured inset right.
Five-year-old Harrison, who lives in Ferndown with his parents and big brother Reece, has cerebral palsy which affects all four of his limbs.
Jon and Jo set up Harrison’s Trust Fund to provide funds for whatever he might need to live as normal a life as possible, and are now focused on getting money together for the specialised vehicle.
Mum of two Justine, 40, said: “With not being able to walk, Harrison is completely wheelchair-bound and, since he is now so much bigger and heavier, it’s becoming more and more apparent that they need a specialised wheelchair accessible mobility vehicle.
“With this they can wheel him into the car in his chair rather than lifting him in and out each and every time.
“Not only will this make his parents’ lives so much easier, it is a far more dignified way for Harrison to travel.”
Jon and Jo have set a £5,000 target, which will cover the deposit of the vehicle.
Justine, a podiatrist, who also runs Little Munchkins children’s party food and cookery party company, has run 5k and 10k races in the past.
But she is now training hard with spinning classes, circuits and strength training, plus swimming and outside bike rides, to cover the 250m swim, ten mile bike ride and three mile run from St Michael’s School, Colehill on Sunday, March 9.
