AFC Bournemouth stars bring smiles to the faces of children with visit to Julia’s House
AFC BOURNEMOUTH stars Lee Camp and Eunan O’Kane joined chairman Jeff Mostyn for a fun-packed afternoon when they made a memorable visit to Julia’s House.
The Cherries trio put a smile on the faces of staff and children with a special guest appearance at the hospice in Corfe Mullen on Tuesday. Taking time out of their busy schedules, they were given the opportunity to witness first-hand the work the charity does for life-limited children and their families across Dorset.
They joined in with board and computer games while Eunan made the most of some sunshine by passing on his top footballing tips in the garden.
The players also signed posters, programmes and footballs for the children and their siblings.
Julia’s House is dedicated to helping life-limited children and their families. The charity needs to raise £3.9 million in 2014.
AFC Bournemouth has had a long-standing relationship with Julia’s House and Mr Mostyn praised the work of the charity.
He said: “Julia’s House is one of Dorset’s proudest organisations and it was a real privilege for Lee, Eunan and myself to be invited.
“Although the visit was eye opening for us all and a very humbling experience, we also had lots of fun, which is the most important thing. Some of the activities they had us doing left me in stitches.
“Before I knew it, I was doing press-ups and Lee was doing his best penguin impression! And, of course, the kids taught us a lesson on FIFA 14.
“It is important that we, as an important part of the community, support organisations like Julia’s House, who do so much good work for so many people in need.”
Louise McKenna, lead hospice nurse at Julia’s House, said: “They just mucked in and clearly enjoyed spending time with our fabulous children.”
