Properties in Bournemouth and Poole are still without power this morning after violent weather hit Dorset over the weekend.

Scottish and Southern Energy said as of 8.30am there 109 customers affected in Poole and 47 in rural Bournemouth.

On Saturday lunchtime over 18,000 customers were without power in towns and villages across Dorset and the New Forest.

Over 1,000 engineers and support staff from SEPD continued to work throughout the night and depots in the affected areas remained open.

SEPD said additional customer service staff will remain in place to handle calls from customers.

A number of roads remain closed due to flooding including Derritt Lane in Sopley, Stony Lane in Burton and Crow Lane in Ringwood.

The Avon Causeway is currrently open but impassable at times.

The Met Office currently has a yellow warning in force for rain, which is valid until 11.45pm tonight with up to 40mm rainfall forecast.

The warning says: "Another spell of rain is expected across southwest England during Monday. This is not expected to be as prolonged or as heavy as in recent days but given the saturated ground, the public should be aware that this still has the potential either to lead to localised flooding or to exacerbate existing issues."

The Chief Forecaster added: "Another spell of wet and rather windy weather is expected across southwest England during Monday. Rainfall totals of 10 to 15 mm seem likely quite widely and perhaps 30 to 40 mm locally, mainly over high ground in the west of the warning area."
