A MAN was attacked by two thugs wielding a hammer in Pokesdown last week.

The victim suffered serious facial injuries in the assault, which took place at 11.10pm on Wednesday, February 5, in Parkwood Road.

During the incident, the man, who is in his 50s, was walking along the road when he was confronted by two unknown men who assaulted him with a hammer.

Detective Constable Dave Lyons, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack causing substantial injuries.

“I urge any witnesses to the incident to come forward as soon as possible.”

One of the offenders is described as a black man between five feet eight inches and six feet tall, with a small beard.

He was wearing a black hat with fur on the front and flaps that cover the ears and a long dark grey coloured coat, with buttons up the front.

The second offender is described as a white man, approximately five feet eight inches tall. He was wearing black coloured clothing and a black balaclava.

DC Lyons said:  “Anyone with information that can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Dorset Police in the strictest confidence.”
