DORSET Police are advertising a £50,000 job in a bid to boost the force’s income.

It hopes to recruit an Income Generation and Sponsorship Manager to attract private investment as it continues to struggle to balance the books.

Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill, pictured. said: “As the financial pinch continues, the Chief Constable and I both need to be assured that we are exploring all options of income generation within the force.

“It is important for us to further examine the concept of sponsorship and to identify local or national opportunities. The post, which is self funding, is another example of how we are working to meet the cuts.”

The job has a starting salary of £47,940, rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £53,607.

The successful candidate will have to deliver set targets within set time periods and to continuously justify the existence of the role. He or she must be educated to degree level and have a proven track record in business management.

Finance teams within Dorset Police are currently preparing budgets.

Dorset Police is the lowest funded force in England and Wales and has seen considerable cuts to its budget in recent years.

Next week’s meeting will be webcast so members of the public can follow events on webcasting.dorsetforyou.
