A SENIOR army commander denied calling a military policewoman a “problem child” after she claimed she was raped.
Lieutenant-Colonel Ian Warren said he never used the words to describe Corporal Anne-Marie Ellement, of Bournemouth, who was allegedly bullied.
The 30-year-old was found hanged two years after she made the claim while stationed in Germany.
Col Warren told the inquest into her death that Cpl Ellement’s welfare was his primary concern after the rape allegation, but he did not “micro-manage” subordinates who dealt with the claim.
The coroner has been told that Cpl Ellement was bullied by colleagues, including Cpl Sarah Noteyoung, the girlfriend of one of the men she had accused of raping her in November 2009. Cpl Ellement was later transferred to Bulford barracks in Wiltshire, where she was found hanged from a fire escaped on October 9, 2011.
The inquest in Salisbury is the second to be held into her death after her family won a judicial review to hear all of the evidence.
