RESIDENTS in the New Forest will see their council tax frozen for the fifth year in a row.

The district council’s Cabinet have confirmed that they will keep council tax the same, despite decreased funding from Government.

This will mean the average band D property will pay £155.76 to New Forest District Council services per year.

The council have accepted a £117,000 grant from Government and have made a number of efficiency sav-ings in their latest budget.

Finance and Efficiency Portfolio holder Colin Wise said: “We are dealing with a number of problems, arising from the overall drop in Government funding, that had an impact on the budget for this year.

“Our careful management of this difficult scenario enables us to recommend to the council that there is no increase in council tax again this year.”

The budget is set to be approved at a council meeting on February 24.
