KINGS of Leon will take the top slot at Isle of Wight Festival 2014.

Following last week's revelation that Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline Saturday night, organisers have revealed the US rockers will close the festival on Sunday June 15 with a festival exclusive performance.

Their Grammy Nominated sixth studio album Mechanical Bull entered the UK charts at number 1 last September, becoming their fourth number one album in the UK.

Festival-goers can expect new material alongside anthems from their back catalogue including Sex on Fire and Use Somebody.

John Giddings, the Festival’s promoter said: “It's a rock 'n' roll weekend! Biffy Clyro, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Kings of Leon - rock the Wight!”

Also added to the bill are Travis, Clean Bandit, The Specials and John Newman.

Isle of Wight Festival 2014 is at Seaclose Park in Newport from June 12 to 15.
