A DISABLED man is back on the road again after an accident wrecked his wheelchair and left him traumatised.

Scott Bunter, who suffers from cerebral palsy, plunged into a river when his wheelchair slipped down a slope at Moors Valley Country Park in September last year.

The 32-year-old, from Ferndown, has been waiting for months for it to be replaced but a new model has now arrived from Germany.

Scott’s condition leaves him unable to walk, talk or feed himself and he has been forced to use a hired chair since the incident on September 22.

His sister, Charlotte, told the Daily Echo: “We are really happy with the way Moors Valley have dealt with this. They have put a safety barrier up where the accident took place and they have ensured Scott has a new chair.

“It cost £9,000 and has slightly different controls to the one he had before but he prefers it and is very happy with it.”

Scott was with his mum, Donna, and her partner, Mark Miles, when the chair slid down a wet path and sent Scott and his mum tumbling into the water.

Passers-by ran to their aid and helped them from the water.

Scott received his first electric wheelchair in 2012 thanks to an appeal in the Daily Echo.
