MORE police will be using body worn video technology in Hampshire thanks to a successful bid for government funding.

Hampshire Police has been awarded a total of £1.1 million from the Home Office Innovation Fund for five separate initiatives to improve community policing. Body worn video allows the force to use digital images to bring offenders to justice as well as promoting confidence in policing.

The money will also be used to develop an Integrated Business Centre for police, the fire service and Hampshire County Council, to establish Safer Neighbourhood bases and to improve contact with members of the public.
