THE first adoption activity day held by Bournemouth council resulted in two children finding a new adoptive family.

Six children enjoyed art, face painting, comedy shows and bouncy castles and potential adopters were encouraged to play with them in the hope they might bond with a child.

Foster carers were on hand to support the children, as were social workers.

The day was organised by the British Association of Adoption and Fostering, with the help of the council’s adoption team.

Cllr Nicola Greene, deputy leader and cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Days such as these are invaluable for both the children and prospective adoptive families to bond and form an attachment with each other.

“It is great news that two out of the six children now have a new adoptive family.”

The council is always looking for more prospective adopters from a variety of backgrounds. Anyone who would like more information should contact the team on 01202 456743 or visit bournemouth.gov.uk/adoption
