THREE Bournemouth councillors are singing off the same song sheet with their new Christmas record to raise the profile of charitable projects.

Coming together to form The Strouden Blues, ward councillors John Adams, John Trickett and Michael Weinhonig have recorded a CD with the Townsend Youth Project to raise money for Macmillan Caring Locally.

The carolling councillors have been bringing a smile and a little festive cheer to audiences at venues throughout the community, including a facility for the homeless.

Guitarist John Adams said: “We formed the group about a year ago and it gives us the opportunity to come together and give money to good causes.

“Hopefully we are giving a little pleasure to our audiences as well.

“We’ve even appeared on Hope FM, I think people love the idea of the singing councillors.”

With backing vocals and percussion from Townsend Children’s Project, the CD features three songs: Silent Night, Stand By Me and Sailing.

The Strouden Blues have already sold 300 copies and all proceeds will be going to The Macmillan Unit, which offers specialist palliative care for patients.

Vocalist John Trickett said: “It allows us to connect with the community in a completely different way and raise the profiles of lots of different charitable projects. All our profits go to charity and we have been able to put on some excellent concerts in the run up to the Christmas period.

“The CD will make a perfect addition to any Christmas list and it will be an ideal gift.”
