A 10-year plan to improve surfaces, signage and accessibility along the Stour Valley will be considered at the Bournemouth Council Cabinet today.
The Stour Valley Masterplan sets out the council’s aspirations for the development of leisure along the Stour Valley corridor, which runs between Hengistbury Head Nature reserve and Millhams Mead Nature reserve.
The plans aim to maximise accessibility and public enjoyment of this corridor on foot, bike, buggy and wheelchair.
Bournemouth council hopes the changes will improve surfaces, signage, gateways and branding.
Councillor Lawrence Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism & Culture, said: “These new plans are exciting and will make it much easier for residents and visitors to access the various locations along the Stour Valley corridor.
“It is important that everyone gets a chance to explore and enjoy the nature and wildlife which we are so lucky to have in Bournemouth.”
The Stour Valley Masterplan will have no immediate effect on Council finances and individual projects will be developed and assessed for financial implications as and when they come forward.
