HOUSEHOLDS across Purbeck have started receiving their containers for the new ‘recycle for Dorset’ collection service.

Throughout December containers, including a seven litre kitchen caddy and a 23-litre lockable food waste bin, will be delivered to homes in Swanage, Wareham, Upton and Lycthett.

Residents who paid for the optional garden waste bin before the October 18 deadline should also receive this at the same time.

The new scheme is set to go live next March.

A Dorset Waste Partnership spokesman said: “Purbeck households that already have a 240-litre wheelie bin for rubbish will use this for recycling from March. Properties that cannot use wheelie bins will receive a supply of sacks for rubbish and two additional boxes for recycling.

“Households will also receive an information pack through their door, including a user guide, stickers for their recycling containers, a reusable battery bag and free compostable caddy liners.

“New collection calendars for the period from March onwards will be posted separately.”
