SHRUNKEN Heads, macabre collectibles and taxidermy were just some of the unique delights on offer at the largest UK Christmas tattoo convention held in Wimborne.
There was a real buzz as hundreds of tattoo enthusiasts descended upon the Allendale Centre for the Jurassic Coast Tattoo Convention which attracted some of the best artists in the UK.
Now in its second year, the event was set up by Kerry and Carl Collinson from Urban Image in Kinson and proved so popular that they returned for a second year.
Kerry said: “About 50 tattooists from all over the country come along. We actually ran out of tattoo booths after just six days because of the interest.
“It’s the largest Christmas tattoo convention in the UK, so we’re very proud.”
More than 50 award-winning tattooists from Dorset and further afield came under one roof including artists Black Pearl Tattoo studio in Parkstone, Just Add Ink in Poole and Urban Image.
Tattoo artists battled it out in a number of competitions including best realism, best tribal design, best dotwork and best dinosaur.
The best tattoo of the day had to be started and finished at the convention and there were no limits to the design.
With a festive fair which screamed Nightmare Before Christmas, the family-friendly event had something for everyone to enjoy.
Kerry said: We try and make it very family-friendly and children under 10 were able to get into our event for free.
“We had prizes for the best dinosaur dress-up during the weekend.”
There were a wide range of different traders from vintage inspired rockabilly and pin-up clothing to vintage food and hand-painted wooden signs.
