Young musicians get tips from pop rock band Lawson
MEMBERS of pop rock band Lawson took time out from their nationwide tour to share their tips for success with aspiring musicians.
Ryan, Joel and Adam, who have notched up a string of top 20 hit singles, visited the ACMR music academy in Kinson ahead of their BIC concert on Friday.
They answered questions from students, signed dozens of autographs and put 50 students on the guest list for their Bournemouth gig.
Adam Pitts, Lawson’s drummer, said: “It’s been amazing, it’s great to come and do this stuff. It’s good to get asked real musicians’ questions. We all went to music college and it’s great to come back and share our experience of life on the other side.”
When asked whether Lawson were enjoying fame, he said: “We never really look at it as fame. We look at it as we just wanted to be able to tour the world and play in front of lots of people and we’re just pleased to be doing that.”
Their visit left ACMR students impressed. Drummer Connor Fox, 18, said: “They were really down to earth. We asked them if they thought they had made it and they said no, they were still setting goals for themselves.”
And guitarist Jamie White, 20, said: “They were pretty genuine guys and they’ve gone down the route that everyone here wants to go down.”
