Artists, poets and musicians to display talents at Boscombe Great Exhibition
ARTISTS, poets and musicians will be displaying their talents at the Boscombe Great Exhibition this weekend, part of the Arts by the Sea Festival.
On Saturday Shelley Manor will host a craft, coffee and cupcakes morning from 10am with music from local harpist Mereike Beyer, followed at 7.30pm by the Myriad Quartet playing popular string quartets by Dvorak and Beethoven.
The Royal Arcade will host life drawing workshops all weekend, while the Sovereign Centre will display community art and host a World Food and Culture Fair.
On Sunday, the precinct performance tent will be hosting poetry readings, live music, juggling and circus shows from 10am to 4pm, alongside a Thai market and a show by award-winning magician Chris Keward.
Des Simmons, chairman of Bournemouth Coastal BID, said: “With innovative events, imaginative performances and some amazing activities running right through the centre, we are keen to see people exploring Boscombe and discovering its many unique elements.”
Local councillor Jane Kelly, from Boscombe Regeneration Partnership, said: “This promises to be a fantastic event for local residents, visitors and businesses and will really raise the profile of Boscombe as an arts and culture hub.
“The event has attracted talented artists from near and far, while some of the empty shops will also be used as part of the event and so it will be great to see Boscombe buzzing with activity over the weekend.”
As well as the weekend events, over the week the event has seen pop-up art galleries established in shops from the Crescent to Pokesdown Green.
