Hamworthy Liberal Hall revamped by kind-hearted youngsters
A HALL in Hamworthy has been revamped ready for use again following the efforts of some kind-hearted young people.
Hamworthy Liberal Hall, on Blandford Road, had slowly got into disrepair due to a lack of funding and was being used less frequently by its members.
But when a group of young people, aged 16 to 25, who are enrolled on the Prince’s Trust programme, saw the current state of the building, they decided to help and do something for the community.
They used paint brushes, hammers and drills to tidy up the back hall of the club, which can now be used for functions, table top sales, clubs and parties as before.
Rob Dowdall, chairman of the committee, said: “It was so badly run down when we took it over in April, and we have had to start from scratch to get it up and running again He added: “As chairman and on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all of the people involved with this for their hard work.
“It is going to benefit so many people and it looks so much better now.”
Team leader Paul Lawrence said: “All the young people have got so much out of re-decorating the room, and know how it will help those who run the hall.
He added: “They got to learn how to work with other people and it gives them some skills to take into the working world with them.”
