Surfer treated by paramedics after accident at Boscombe Pier
AN ambulance was called this afternoon after a surfer suffered a suspected spinal injury.
Boscombe lifeguards attended to the man close to the pier before paramedics treated him.
Portland Coastguard said they were called at 4.35pm and had been told the surfer was suffering from neck pain.
RNLI Lifeguard supervisor Mike Winter said the man was put on a spinal board as a precaution but was later given the all-clear by paramedics and not taken to hospital.
"It was a typical surfing thing of being too shallow and banging his head," he added.
