Businesswoman arrested in Bournemouth over £320k VAT fraud

A BUSINESSWOMAN has been arrested in Bournemouth on suspicion of a £320,000 VAT fraud.
HM Revenue and Customs criminal investigators arrested the 49-year-old woman from Winchester, in Bournemouth on Tuesday, it announced today.
HMRC spokesman Bob Gaiger said: “Tackling tax fraud is a key priority for HMRC and we will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds.
"Anyone with information about people who may be involved in VAT fraud can contact the Customs Hotline on 0800 59 5000.”
A residential address and one commercial property in the Winchester area were searched.
The woman, who has not been named, was interviewed on suspicion of VAT repayment fraud.
She has been released on bail until January 27 2014. Investigations continue.
