Funeral to take place for Daniel Robbie, killed in suspected hit and run on Upton bypass
‘DEVOTED’: Dozens of floral tributes lie at the side of the A35 Upton Bypass where young father Daniel Robbie was killed in an alleged hit-and-run
A FUNERAL service will be held for tragic dad-of-three Daniel Robbie at Bournemouth Crematorium on Friday October 4.
Mr Robbie, 23, was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident as he rode a child’s micro scooter along the Upton Bypass in the early hours of Saturday September 14.
A funeral notice placed in the Daily Echo by his family described Mr Robbie, of Throop Close, as the “handsome, beloved son” of Julie and Graham and stepson of Andy and Amanda.
He was also a big brother to Tom, Katie, Rhiannon and Kieron, brother-in-law to Shannon and “devoted daddy” to Lily, Daisy and Charlie.”
Tributes poured in following the horrific accident, which took place just hours before Mr Robbie’s baby son was due to undergo heart surgery.
An inquest heard Mr Robbie died of multiple injuries and that further examinations and tests are due to be carried out.
A 26-year-old man from Blandford was arrested in connection with the inquiry but has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The funeral service is due to be held at 2pm and there has been a request for family flowers only.
Instead they have asked for donations to the Families of Ocean Ward, a charity formed by volunteer parents whose children have cardiac disease and are being treated in the Ocean Ward at Southampton Hospital.
Donations can be sent to W Smith & Sons Funeral Directors, 639/645 Wimborne Road, Bournemouth BH9 2AR.
