Wimborne Tourist Information centre is saved but could lose staff
9:51am Tuesday 24th September 2013 in News
WIMBORNE will keep its Tourist Information Centre but could lose staff.
Supporters are being urged to attend a council meeting tomorrow to show the strength of feeling over the issue.
The centre, which faced closure as part of cost-cutting at East Dorset District Council, is to be spared but could lose its one full-time and five part-time members of staff.
The board of trustees at the Priest’s House Museum will take over the running of the TIC, while the council will fund a manager for three years. Wimborne’s town crier Chris Brown and former mayor Anthony Oliver organised a petition signed by more than 4,000 people.
The meeting will be tomorrow at 9.30am at Furzehill.
