A MAN is due in court on Friday accused of assaulting a man who is in a life-threatening condition in hospital.
A 61-year-old man was found seriously injured just after midnight on Monday in the car park of the Cricketers Arms pub in Windham Road, Springbourne.
Patrick Joseph Galbraith, 32, of Bournemouth, has since been charged with grievous bodily harm and was due to appear before Bournemouth magistrates on Friday.
Officers also arrested a 54-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, both from Bournemouth, on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to the same incident. Police said on Thursday evening that both had been released on bail until the middle of November 2013 pending further enquiries.
The injured 61-year-old was taken on Monday to Southampton General Hospital, where his condition was described as life-threatening.
Police issued appeals for witnesses as they attempted to discover what happened.
He was named locally as Richard and is thought to be the partner of Sheila Doherty, landlady of the Cricketers Arms. He owns the Union Motors garage next door to the pub and has two children.
Police said on Thursday evening that the condition of the 61-year-old was unchanged.
