Sleep out to help Bournemouth's homeless

HOMELESS charity BCHA is holding The Big Sleep Out for a second year.

The fundraiser is to create awareness for rough sleepers in the area. Participants can only bring what they can carry and tents are banned.

Lorna Trent, from BCHA, said: “This event will enable people to experience a small part of the challenges homeless people face on a day-to-day basis.”

Employees from furniture store BoConcept, in Bournemouth, will join participants to raise as much money as possible.

Faye Simons, contract manager at BoConcept, said: “We hope to raise more money to ensure that more people are helped off the streets and are given the same chances as everyone else.”

The fundraiser will take place in the car park of BCHA’s Head Office in Bournemouth between 10pm and 6am on the September 6.

Can I volunteer John Beesley. If anyone needs a better understanding of the challenges homeless people face he does. His new policy of limiting access to homeless hostels can only increase the number of rough sleepers in the town.

Will ALL the managements of BCHA be doing the same? Just a thought.

No, the date is right. The sleep out was held on the 6th in Bournemouth, and the 7th in Dorchester. You really didn't expect anything else from the Echo did you?

Nice to see the Echo doesn't print pre event press releases until after the event and even then can't make the effort to alter the press release. Great journalism.
