Firefighters are currently dealing with two heath fires this afternoon. Four fire engines and four Land Rovers are tackling a blaze at East Stoke, while four fire engines and four Land Rovers are at St Catherine's Hill

Here's a bit more information on that toppled tree.

Rob Allardyce, business support manager for parks at Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “As a result of the strong winds a mature Scots Pine has fractured half way up the main stem and fallen near the entrance to Pine Walk by the Visitor Information Centre.

"The site has been made safe and the fallen tree will be cleared as quickly as possible.”



A 60ft tree has come down on Westover Road. The pine tree, which has broken in the middle, has been cordoned off. The parks team were called around half an hour ago.

An overturned vehicle on Fernside Road is being recovered after a three vehicle crash earlier

Update on Wightlink services - the Lymington to Yarmouth route appears to be back to normal


DIY company B&Q is to close 60 stores nationally - the equivalent of roughly one in six - as it battles slow sales, it has been announced this morning.

There are a number of B&Q stores in the area, including at Castlepoint shopping centre, Fleetsbridge in Poole, Orchid Way in Christchurch and Jubilee Close in Weymouth.
