Thousands come to Bournemouth beach as sun shines down

The beach gradually filled up from the morning and after lunch with beachgoers cooling off in the sea.

Boat owners dropped anchor off the pier to soak up that afternoon sun and games of football and volleyball were in full swing on the sand.

Temperatures peaked at around 22 degrees, with the sun shining down onto the seafront throughout the day.

The warm weather may not continue for long, though, with a Met Office yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in place from midday tomorrow until 10pm in the evening.

At this stage the forecasters are predicating a cloudy morning with sunny spells, although the sun is expected to come out in the afternoon.

Temperatures won’t be as high as today, with highs of 20 expected.

Residents may also get the chance to glimpse the Northern Lights for the second night in a row tonight, after they appeared in the sky last night.

Moving into next week, heavy rain is predicted on Monday, with temperatures dropping back down to around 15 degrees.
