I JUST wanted to show my support for introducing a tourist tax.

Since visiting Venice a few years ago where a tourist tax has been in place for a long time I have always thought a tourist tax is completely necessary, especially in key tourist destinations where the general population is much lower and their council tax cannot sustain the maintenance to roads, parks, walkways etc needed to keep a tourist location looking smart for hundreds of thousands of tourists.

Also it is unfair for local people to fund all the maintenance, events etc required to bring in tourists when council tax is already so high and local people see little benefit i.e roads need improvement, the planning department is under funded etc.

This will allow the council to fund much needed repairs in the town and make the town better for local people and tourists alike!
