A MAN has been arrested after a car ploughed into several parked cars.
Four cars were left smashed after a driver allegedly hit a speed bump and lost control of the Mercedes C-Class during a police chase that started in Bournemouth town centre.
The chase came to a dramatic end in Windham Road, Springbourne, at 5.14pm on Wednesday, May 15, destroying a parked Seat Ibiza and Nissan Micra.
Officers arrested a 20-year-old Bournemouth man at the scene and he is currently being investigated in relation to robbery and drug offences. He is still in police custody as of Thursday morning.
Two people were seen running from the scene, and officers have been working alongside the NPAS helicopter to search the area.
Although one has been arrested, officers are still searching for the other person.
Thomas Taylor witnessed the incident outside The Cricketers Arms and said he heard screeching before the car rushed past.
He said the car was speeding around a corner but hit a speed bump and lost control.
It smashed into one car before spinning 180 degrees and hitting two others, Thomas said.
A worker at The Cricketers Arms added she saw the two occupants of the car attempt to flee before one was detained by police.
Chris Swann captured a video of the incident and said it was lucky there were no school children around at the time.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “At 4.20pm on Wednesday 15 May 2024, a vehicle failed to stop for police in the area of Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.
“The vehicle subsequently came to a stop at around 5.15pm after colliding with several parked vehicles in Windham Road. No injuries were reported.”
