BOOKING is now open for guests to step aboard the 17th century Spanish tall ship during its visit to Poole Quay.

The Galeón Andalucía is the replica of the ship used by the Spanish during the XVI to XVIII centuries in the maritime expeditions of discovery and inter-oceanic trade between Spain, America and the Philippines of the so-called fleets of the Indies.

Funded by Poole BID, the event ‘promises to bring a wave of maritime history and excitement to the area, drawing visitors from far and wide.’

Poole BID has been making arrangements for the ship to dock at Poole Quay this summer.

A spokesperson for Poole BID said: “Step aboard and discover the Galleon. Your visit is a self-guided walking tour.

“You are free to wander its decks, talk to the actual crew members (real sailors living on board) and contemplate dozens of interactive exhibits, videos, projections and historical documents. You are welcome to take photos.”

The exhibition, supported by Poole Harbour Commissioners, will provide a rare opportunity for the public to explore the intricate details of a tall ship.

The ship will be coming to Poole from July 31 to August 4, 2024.

Tickets for children under five are free, children between the ages of five and ten are £6, and children over the age of 11 are £12.

Adults are £12, and families (two adults and up to three children between five to ten years old) are £30.
